Planetary Nebula is a ring-shaped nebula formed by an expanding shell of gas around an aging star. In relation, to how it ejects layers into space it does this by when it is approaching death the outer layers are ejected as the core shrinks and compacts and returned to the interstellar medium. The rings that you see are material that has been ejected right before its death.
An HR Diagram is a scatter graph of stars that shows the relationship between stars' absolute magnitudes or its luminosities versus their spectral classifications or temperatures.
Double Shell Fusion occur after the core helium fusion stops, Helium fuses into Carbon in a shell around the Carbon core, and H fuses to Helium in an outer shell around a helium layer. This stage never is able to remain in equilibrium and is unstable.
Astronomers are able to observe and identify changes in a star by that they have noticed while looking into the sky the various changes that occurred. Here is a good link showing the life cycle: https://leescience8.wikispaces.com/file/view/32_1_starlifecycle.jpg/223402568/32_1_starlifecycle.jpg
Who created the H-R diagram?
ReplyDeleteThe HR diagram was created in the early 1900s by Ejnar Hertzsprung and Henry Norris Russell.
DeleteCan you explain Planetary Nebula a little more? I don't fully understand how it ejects layers into space.
